“Growing up on Kaua‘i in a big family, traveling to surf contests on other islands just wasn’t always possible because of the cost. The regional events gave kids like me the chance to compete, improve, and be seen without having to leave home. Those opportunities played a huge role in shaping my path in surfing, and it’s why creating strong local competitions for the next generation means so much to me.”
